will the canadian crowd ruin another KOTD event?

its funny how they used to be one of the best crowds in battle rap and now they are by far the worst. the last event that was in canada was totally ruined by the crowd. it felt terrible on camera and for the battlers it was probably even more awkard

acidzero 03-13-2017 04:08 PM

wd5 and wd6 had terrible crowds. but i thought GvG and BO6 crowds weren't that bad and that was toronto as well.
i can't rewatch any of the wd6 battles solely because of the crowd.

Seanzo 03-13-2017 04:15 PM

WD6 had the problem that so few people showed up that KOTD seemed to allow a bunch of people in who weren't really battle fans. To be honest, i think they're paying the price for how mismanaged their events have been for start times. They usually run late with huge lulls and people get bored.. It's clear to me a lot of fans are just staying home.

Casual 03-13-2017 04:24 PM

I unno but I probably won't go to find out.

The PPV crowd at my place gonna be way better than at the venue.

If I do go I'm waiting till like 11pm at least.

brodeezy 03-13-2017 04:35 PM

the crowds will always be shit for as long as they have three day events with 64 battles that run 12 hours per day.

they will also always be shit for as long as they stay in shit fuck toronto

Cabbagetown 03-13-2017 04:42 PM

ICE drunk ringside > crowd

How do you guys start a petition?

Scartown 03-13-2017 05:11 PM

Yes.

A room full of Charron and arcane fans, what would you expect

griminey 03-13-2017 05:41 PM

The need to stop with the 2 day events, condense the cards, start on time, have shorter breaks between battles, and have battles that are interesting enough to make people pay attention. If those things are implemented I believe Toronto "could" be a good crowd.

I bitch about the Toronto crowds a lot, but I also feel these events are not set up to have a great crowd. I mean, don't expect me to be silent when there is a 30 minute break between every battle and then have charron, tax, lexx, or some other lame on stage.

the toronto crowd <<<<<<

maintaining a canadian identity at the cost of the toronto crowd making footage unwatchable <<<<<<

the toronto crowd was actually pretty great for gully vs ganik. i'm still expecting them to be trash for this event because very few names announced so far hold any star power. booking so many up and comers for a major event with the worst crowd in battle rap is a huge risk. if the crowd is as bad as expected, i hope KOTD learns and starts booking events in cities that make much more sense.

Nikolas34520 03-13-2017 06:02 PM

The attention that the MASS cards get opposed to the BO or WD cards says quite a bit. Having a nightclub atmosphere at a battle rap event really doesn't help along with booking events to save costs of equipment doesn't help. At this point the events should be in the states, like @peace said, is the Canadian identity worth the shitty footage? Most of the talent is american anyways. Imo the reason they do events in Canada is cause they get funding from the government with some art tax thing, idk but thats my guess.

Emancee 03-13-2017 11:38 PM

Charron fans will be there... event ruined!!!

haatley 03-14-2017 12:32 AM

I stopped attending cause the crowds were terrible and they were pushing terrible battlers. Battle rap has passed its peak in Toronto. The good Canadian battlers don't even bother anymore, and the new fans are terrible.

youdontwannabethatguy 03-14-2017 01:36 AM

i've thought most of their crowds were terrible tbh wd2 is one of the only exceptions they should just move the league to america tbh i honestly believe it's the next step

Casual 03-14-2017 02:21 AM

The only legitimate reason to have an event in Toronto is if Drake wants to fund it honestly. I can't think of another good case.

Interesting how much the crowd plays a part in battle rap

As much as it shouldn't affect things it invariably does

Might be the only art form that does that

I never wonder about the "crowd" when I see a stand-up special

Although to be fair if I saw a stand-up special and no one reacted, it would be weird

Sorry for the lack of focus in this post.

Because they edit in laughs into stand up specials. Crowds play a massive role in standup

their never late tho remember i asked king fly this

it is a timed-delay that is "universal" apparently

averagejoe 03-14-2017 06:37 AM

there*

Feral Linguist 03-14-2017 06:39 PM

WD6 was just garbage as a whole

i think the crowd at BO5 was nice ...that was 2 years ago and i'm pretty sure that was their last great event
