KOTD North Division

1st battle just happened, Ciddy vs. Joey Gambello, solid way to kick the day off. Joey did well, but Ciddy showed out, especially in the 2nd. Real Deal vs. Times, Marv Won vs. Gauge and Charron vs. Shotti P are left for the day.

Everyone that’s won today so far has been pretty clear, all 3-0’s. I do want to see Gauge on KOTD again though, he’s quite smooth.

Times got the W. 52-48% on Twitch. I think this was too close to call.

Not mad at the outcome but I think it was off by a touch.

Times is a killer. Great battle either way.

So Ciddy, Charron, Times and Marv Won. Could be interesting.

So the next round of the tournament is looking like this in each division.

West: Aktive vs. Saynt, Dizaster vs. The Saurus

South: Chef Trez vs. So Severe, Clone vs. Hays The Family Man

East: Xcel vs. Head Ice, Showoff vs. J Murda

North: Marv Won vs. Charron, Times vs. Ciddy

And then after that round, you'll have the divisions have crossover to other divisions from then on in the tournament. That means the winner of Trez/Severe will face the winner of Aktive/Saynt, the winner of Dizaster/Saurus will face the winner of Clone/Hays, the winner of Xcel/Ice will face the winner of Marv/Charron and the winner of Showoff/Murda will face the winner of Times/Ciddy. I'm interested to see how the rest of this tournament unfolds.

Head ICE vs. Charron is a very likely and very, very weird top 8 battle.

Appreciate the breakdown. I was too lazy to do the research.

Xcel vs Head ICE is the best thing to come out of this tournament by far

it's a perfect matchup and Xcel is possibly the most underrated of the modern era

Plus, they were originally supposed to battle on iBattle a few months back, but Ice didnít show up for whatever reason.

Fire event. Showed how good KOTD could be if they just book unique talent.

Gauge vs Marv felt like a classic until their thirds. Probably the best Charron performance ever, as crazy as that sounds. Real Deal vs Times was okay, but it was fun watching a no-name get a shot.

"Tiers" have always been bullshit. Hope this tourney pushes KOTD into putting less popular battlers against bigger names.

I think so far, this Grand Prix tournament has done a pretty good job accomplishing the goal of what a tournament like this should do. Yes, you've got certain veterans like Saurus, Marv, Charron, etc. that've shown why they've had the reps they've had for a long time. But I think it's also doing a really good job of elevating either certain underrated/overlooked battlers or names that battle rap fans might not be that familiar with. Plus, I think it's also doing a good job of expanding the talent pool for KOTD, and potentially leading to really unique matches featuring those newer names to the league in the future once the tournament's over with.

A shame Real Deal didn't get the W. I don't think its arguable that he won, just not a body.

Yeah, KOTD got lucky that some of the vets got beaten and others really showed up. The current mixture is a nice blend of vets and new faces. The tournament would have been very different with, say, Caustic, Bonnie, RD etc. still in it. It also does show that despite the criticism they get, guys like Charron, Real Deal and hell even Frak can rep.

How did it take an entire decade after his debut for M. Ciddy to battle on KOTD. That's pretty ridiculous.
