i agree. he's a lot of seasoned fans' favorite battler. also, RBE crowds are pretty objective... whoever shows up that day gets a reaction. illmac is consistently a lyrical god. all he needs is more of a following and a next level performance and he will get more top tier opponents.

That's because the average IQ among battle rap fans is <100(citation needed). Anyone who has a life outside of battle rap realises that when you have a verse, at least 30% of which makes no syntactical sense and another portion is literal nonsense, that person deserves criticism.
Especially when they're being touted as GOAT. I get Lux's place in the culture and all that - would never knock what he's done for battle rap etc.. but god DAMN he gets away with some absolute FUCKERY in his writing. Battle rap really is an intense bubble with egregious in-group bias. Read some poetry, literature, essays, lyrics (rap or otherwise) - get an idea about real imagery and other devices battle rappers try to use- it becomes very slim pickings when you leave the bubble are realise how high the bar actual is for wordsmithing.

Lux is dope within the medium of battle rap, but it involves very different skills to writing essays and poetry, they aren't really comparable.

Although it's slightly different. Compare Tupac Shakur's poetry and 2Pac's rapping. Notice how different they are, the same is true of battle rappers.

I disagree. There are syntactical rules that apply to all forms. You realise battle rap is just a way for people of a bent to make their failure to do so come off as swag - which is also a skill that I don’t knock
