Haha! Please never say "As the kiddies say 'It's gonna be lit'" ever again.

I liked the episode, Slug is kinda difficult to interview clearly. He genuinely didn't seem to want to talk about battling at all!

Why would he? Scribble was practically half a lifetime ago for him at this point and all things considered, he wasn't a particularly good battler. Slug's legacy for me will always be about the music.

cool, bout to peep - I always remember him vs Machine Gun Kelly & Sage, he'd win off personality alone which I guess translates to swag now but it's weird to think of him as a swag rapper.

+ I got the impression from his verse on non-perishables 1 he wasn't so into modern battling?

On footage this was the case, but in the early 90s he was widely regarded as the best battler in the Twin Cities and was known to beat Eyedea numerous times with relative ease.

Atmosphere does nothing but make dad rap now, but slug was a monster at battling at one point.

Yeah, this was what I heard too. At one point Slug was an insane battler. It's always a shame how little footage survives of that era. We have a couple of Scribble battles and occasionally a crackly tape and that is pretty much it.

cribbing somewhat: but he says basically he stopped battling on the scribble-type circuit as most people he was battling were his friends and he felt uncomfortable learning things about their personal life as their friend and then using this in battles.

also Ok seemed way more up for reminiscing, enjoyed this though a lot - salute!

There's no way you could track down Fatlip for a podcast? I love that dude.
